October 2026
Message from the President

As we move into the second quarter, we hope our students and families are feeling settled into the rhythm of middle school life and enjoying a great school year so far! The link and information for Landrum's first round of the Secret Pal Program is below. Please help us show our staff some love by signing up to be a Secret Pal.

The PTO has been busy supporting our Landrum community and creating opportunities to bring our students, families, and staff together. We kicked off the fall with a staff cookout, hosted a fun 6th Grade Bowling Night, and celebrated some of our amazing students at our Student of the Month celebration. We are grateful to everyone who helped make these events a success!

We have even more to look forward to in the coming weeks. Our 7th Grade Bowling Night at Beach Bowl is coming up soon, and we still have spots available! If you have a 7th grader, be sure to click the link in the newsletter and register before the October 14th deadline.

On Wednesday, October 21st, we hope you’ll join other Landrum families for our first Community Spirit Night at Jersey Mike’s in PVB. A pre-order link is available on the flyer below. Be sure to use promo code JMGIVES, and a percentage of your purchase will be donated back to Landrum. It’s an easy way to enjoy dinner while supporting our school!

Our next PTO meeting will be held on October 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. We warmly invite all parents to join us, get involved, and hear about the many great things happening at Landrum. If you haven’t already, we also encourage you to visit landrumpto.com and become a PTO member. Your involvement and financial support make a tremendous difference and allow us to continue supporting our students, staff, and school community throughout the year.

With gratitude,

Regan Cartwright

Want to Be More Involved at Landrum? Join the Student Advisory Council!

Landrum Middle School is looking for parents and community members to join our 2026–2027 Student Advisory Council (SAC). We need at least six community members/parents—and more are always welcome!

Our next meeting is Thursday, October 15th at approximately 2:15 PM. SAC will meet just six times this school year, on the third Thursday of each meeting month. Meetings typically wrap up by 3:00 PM.

SAC plays an important role in approving funds related to Landrum’s annual School Improvement Plan (SIP), helping provide teachers and students with the tools and resources needed to reach our school goals.

It’s also a great way for involved parents to “be in the know.” Meetings include updates and information from Mr. Kasting, the PTO, the St. Johns County School Board and the St. Johns County School District.

Interested in getting involved or have questions? Please contact Jayne Devine at Jayne.Devine@stjohns.k12.fl.us.

We’d love to have you join us!

It’s time to start exploring Programs of Interest and Career Academies for the 2027–2028 school year!

Current Landrum 8th graders can begin preparing now by checking out the SJCSD Student Toolkit, which includes important dates, application information, FAQs, and resources to help students find programs that match their interests and future goals.

We are excited to share that the Landrum Middle School Student & Parent Handbook is now available for review:

https://www-lms.stjohns.k12.fl.us/handbook/

The handbook is a comprehensive guide to life at Landrum and contains important information about academics, attendance, student expectations, activities, communication, safety, and much more. It serves as a valuable resource to help students and families navigate the school year with confidence.

At Landrum, we believe that strong partnerships between students, families, and staff are the foundation of success. We encourage you to review the handbook together and refer to it throughout the year as questions arise.

As the #1 middle school in the #1 school district, we are proud of the culture, traditions, and high standards that make Landrum such a special place to learn and grow. Thank you for partnering with us as we work together to make this an outstanding year for every student.

School Sports at Landrum

School Sports at Landrum

Many new parents have been asking about team tryouts and the sports available to Landrum students, so we wanted to share a quick overview of how athletics work at the school.

Landrum Middle School sports include:

Basketball

Volleyball

Cross Country

Track

Cheerleading

These teams are run directly through Landrum Middle School. Information about tryouts and registration will be shared through ParentSquare and announced at school.

All other sports available to Landrum students are offered through the nonprofit Saint Johns Middle School Athletic Association (SJMSAA), including:

Baseball

Pickleball

Cheer

Dance

Football

Flag Football

Golf

Soccer

Softball

Tennis

Because these teams are not run by Landrum Middle School, the school does not distribute their tryout information. The PTO will do its best to share details whenever we receive them.

To stay informed, follow the Landrum PTO social media pages and regularly visit sjmsaa.org.
